Setting everything up!! DAY 1- Monday BRICK APPLICATION TIMELAPSE We started by making our brick wall for that urban street vibe, to do this I cut 4 brick shapes out of foam and we all worked together to stamp them on, which made it super efficient! I like how they didn't stamp perfectly as it makes it more realistic! Xena and Izzy worked on padding out the bin to make it more full and then we moved them in to visualise! ^ We hung up the T-shirts and positioned the vine on the props- This is when I realised it wasn't long enough to also hang along the top of the faux wall like I envisioned :( ^ We placed the fairies, sticking some down for extra support and added the other set dressings! ^ I decided that I could paint a vine along the top to tie in the foreground so made a quick draft DAY 2- Tuesday ^ Me painting new vine! ^ New Vine! I also painted a silhouette of a cat stretching on top for extra dimension and whimsy (Pictured later on). ^ We hung up a merch shelf for the po...

GROUP WORK! We decided on recreating the Cottingley Fairies Hoax as our artefact at this stage we didn't quite know where to take it- we just knew that our aims would to be to make a new version of the hoax and to bring back the 'whimsy' and hope that the original photo created.

REVIST REMAKE- EXPLORE

Preparation Task For the preparation task I remade John Everett Millais' Mariana, I was inspired to remake a pre raphaelite painting as they are so beautiful and inspired mostly by nature which I thought would be easy to modernise by turning it more urban. I found this painting and related to her stance as my desk chair is VERY uncomfortable and after working I need to stretch a lot. So I remade her as an illustrator instead of a tapestry worker and changed the scenery and outfits to fit more into todays age. ZANDRA RHODES: A LIFE IN PRINT- THE HOLBURNE MUSEUM   I visited the exhibition Zandra Rhodes: A Life in Print at the Holburne Museum with Izzy Molly and Xena, the venue is situated in Bath and majority of the rooms are dedicated to the art collection of Sir William Holburne, but it also hosts an array of temporary more modern exhibitions in its purpose built spaces. As the venue is a big museum it has a whole curatorial office who selects the majority of work to be displayed, ...

WORD AND IMAGE SUMMER WORK For our summer work and introduction to the module we were to pick a pice of prose and make a 'soundscape' influenced by it and then finally use that to create some abstract artworks. I chose the poem The Goose and The Common which is an English orally transmitted poem from the 18th century by an unknown author. I first read it in Suzanne Collin's Sunrise on the Reaping and thought that the repetition, rhyme and theme would inspire me. It's themes being that of social injustice caused by the rich taking land/privatisation of land. I only focused on a few lines of the poem to not overcomplicate it: " The law locks up the man or woman Who steals the goose from off the common But leaves the greater villain loose Who steals the common from the goose. The law demands that we atone When we take things we do not own But leaves the lords and ladies fine Who take things that are yours and mine." I do think my soundscape matches the atmosphere...
